Medical Tattooing: About paramedical micropigmentation
If you struggle with a visible difference, exploring medical tattooing, also known as para-medical micropigmentation or restorative tattooing, could be a step to change your life for the better.
Whether your difference is medical, surgical, or traumatic in nature, this technique can be used to correct a tissue alteration such as scarring, lip damaged by cleft lip palate, burns, mammary reconstruction, self harm, stabilized vitiligo, skin grafts, or lack of hair on brows, lash-line, and scalp.
Mommy makeovers could benefit from the service of dry needling for stretch marks and scar camouflaging. Medical tattooing is also beneficial after face lifts to conceal the surgical scars post plastic surgery.
Chemotherapy patients can also benefit from paramedical micropigmentation. The process of implanting medical grade certified pigment in an area of the skin is used to achieve a realistic, natural solution to correct skin achromia or conceal a scar. Learn more about paramedical oncology services.
Medical tattooing can also reshape areola after surgury.
One of the most important factors of restorative tattooing is the use of small molecules pigments instead of large molecules in inks. The nontoxic medical pigments are translucent and will match the natural tones and hues of normal skin.
This realistic and natural solution can seriously help perceptional body image.
A consultation is mandatory to discuss the history of the affected area as well as your pre-procedure. Please be prepared to provide the list of your prescription medications for the consent paperwork.
“Bea's bedside manner can't be beat, and she color matched my skin so well that it's hard to tell that any work was done and that anything different was ever there. She knows what she's doing, and while I am thankful every day for medical tattoo technology, I'm also thankful every day that I found Bea to be the one to do it.
I have a very rare condition that has no treatment, it can only be somewhat masked by plastic surgery and even that would need to be repeated every few years. In a desperate effort to avoid plastic surgery, I spent years looking into and trying less invasive and more affordable options that I might be able to mix and match to accomplish nearly the same effect. I thought of getting a tattoo to cover part of my outward appearance, but the affected area is on my face and I just couldn't bring myself to do that. Then I remembered permanent makeup, read about it, ended up reading about medical tattoos, did an online search for a local practitioner, and found Bea. Her close relationship with plastic surgeons and partnership with hospitals (in Canada) are what convinced me to give her a try. It was critical to me to find someone who has at least some type of professional connection with, and understanding of, the medical community. I am so glad that I found her. She is so incredibly kind and compassionate, not to mention professional and skilled. She listened, held my hand when I broke down uncontrollably, and worked with me on the challenges that my condition presents.
I am very pleased with the outcome. My eyes used to be drawn to certain parts of my face every time I looked in the mirror, and every time, I wished they weren't there. Soon, they won't be. And I can tell when people aren't looking me in the eyes and are looking at my face. Soon that will be a thing of the past. Thank you Bea!”

Types of Para-Medical Tattooing
If you struggle with a visible difference, exploring medical tattooing, also known as para-medical micropigmentation or restorative tattooing, could be a step to change your life for the better.

3D nipple-areola complex
Nipple and areola reconstruction is used to create the illusion of a natural three dimensional image of an areola and/or nipple for breast cancer patients who have had breast reconstruction surgery. It is the “finishing touch” for the patient.
This non-surgical post-mastectomy procedure helps women to recover physically and emotionally from the scars of breast cancer while getting in touch with their pre-surgery selves.
Nipple and areola reconstruction can be done for prophylactic surgeries as well as bilateral/unilateral breast reconstruction.
For breast lifting patients, a reshape and re-pigment of the areola could be desired.
For those who have irregular or fading areola, medical tattooing will match pigment to your shape and color.
It is a wonderful solution for Poland syndrome, a congenital condition where the overlying breast is absent, small, or misshapen.
We will discuss areola size, shape, and color for your desired look.
Please wear a loose sports bra and comfortable pants. You will be kept warm on a heated table warmer.
CosMed.ink provides a free consultation to breast cancer survivors. Please call to book a consultation.

Skin concealing & camouflage
Scars can be camouflaged using a skin tone tattooing pigment to match the color of your normal surrounding skin.
Stretch marks can be treated by dry needling previous to the pigmentation.
Vitiligo must be stabilized.
Surgery, trauma scars, facelift scars, mommy makeover scars, scars as a result of injuries, hypo-pigmented spots, birthmarks, non-pigmented age spots, and other skin achromia will be addressed case by case during the consultation.
Cleft palate malocclusion facial esthetics will repair the inconspicuous scar and form a new pout. A lip contour definition can be completed with a natural lip blush.
Burn disfiguration treatment can begin once cleared by your physician. It is critical to reach a positive outcome following this process. In most cases you will see a significant improvement of the appearance of the area; it is nor guarantee you will instantly return to your previous skin condition. You must have realistic expectations.
